7 Weeks

January 10th-16th
Loves:  His paci (of course), laying on the changing table and talking to us after his diaper has been changed, his swing, and sleeping with a blanket near his face.

Eating: 4 oz every three hours

Sleeping:  He is still waking up every 3 hours to eat.  I am starting to wonder if he will ever sleep through the night.  He takes good naps throughout the day so I can't complain too much. Maybe one day he will be ready to sleep through the night so his mommy can get some rest. :)

Clothes:  He has outgrown several newborn outfits.  He is wearing mostly 0-3 months now and size one diapers.

Firsts:  He went to Grandmother and Grandaddy's house to spend the night.  He was spoiled rotten while he was there.

This Weeks Happenings:  I wanted to get my haircut so we traveled to Selma on Thursday and spent the night.  His grandparents were so excited to see him.  He did well on the trip over there.  I was a little nervous since he was in the back seat all by himself but he slept the whole way there.  Grandmother rocked him to sleep all day and he loved it.  He didn't sleep very well while we were there though.  When we got back home he seemed much happier and slept really good that night and all the next day.

Fun Facts:

*I wish I could bottle up his baby smell!  There is nothing like it!
*I also love his baby breath.
*Grant does the most cooing while he is getting his diaper changed.
*He loves the birds on his swing and he smiles at them when he sees them.
*He is looking from side to side now and loves to check out everything around him.
*He still hates his bouncy seat.

Six Weeks and National Championship Game

January 3rd- January 9th

Loves:  Have I mentioned that he loves his paci?  He also loves getting his diaper changed, his swing, and being held all day.

Eating:  He is currently eating 4 oz of breast milk.  He is still eating every 3 hours.

Sleeping: I'm one of those horrible parents that has allowed my baby to sleep in the bed with us.  I know, I know!  Most people give it the name "co-sleeping" to make it sound a little better.  It got to the point where Grant would not sleep in his bassinet very long because he was hitting the sides with his arms and waking himself up.  Then I was having to put the paci back in his mouth all night and I got ZERO sleep.  When I would put him in the bed beside me he would fall right asleep and the paci would fall out of his mouth and he never wanted it back in.  This was heaven to me since I was finally able to get a little sleep again.  I feel horrible about it and I know that I will have a time getting him out of the bed with us but the damage has been done now.  I don't know who it will be harder for when it's time for him to sleep in his crib.  I think I love having him there as much as he loves it.

Clothes: He is still wearing newborn clothes but it won't be long before he is out of them.  He is wearing size 1 diapers.

Firsts: He experienced his first Alabama football game.  Of course this wasn't just any game.  It was the National Championship Game.  We put on all his Alabama garb and he looked so cute.  He slept through the game and we had to cheer silently but we sure did enjoy it.  I consider him to be our good luck charm! He actually rolled over for the first time on January 4th.  He was on his activity mat and rolled over several times from his stomach to his back.  On January 7th he had his first shopping trip to Lowe's and Office Depot.  We had to pick up a drill and a desk for Josh.  Grant slept the whole time we were in Lowe's but started to get fussy by the time we made it to Office Depot.  On January 8th he smiled at me for the first time.  It was the cutest, gummiest smile I have ever seen.  It melted my heart!

Five Weeks

December 27th- January 2nd

Here are a few photos from the week:

ONE MONTH OLD

January 28, 2012

It's so hard to believe that my baby is one month old already.  He's getting so big and we love him more and more everyday.  He is growing too fast!

This week we went back to the doctor and had to get shots.  I was really dreading this visit but he did much better than I imagined.  Here are his stats for his one month check up:

Weight: 8 lbs and 8 oz and is in the 25th percentile

(up from 6 lbs 2 oz at birth)

Height: 20 1/2 inches and is in the 25th percentile
(up from 19 1/2 in at birth)

Head:  36 inches and is in the 25th percentile

He's doing great!  At his one month visit he was in the 10th percentile so he is getting closer to where he needs to be.  Here are a couple of photos from his doctor's appointment.

Four Weeks Old

December 20th-26th

Loves:  Loves looking at the ceiling fan, snuggling with Mommy, his paci, getting his face washed, and being held and talked to.

Eating:  Grant is eating 3.5 oz at every feeding.  He is still getting pumped breast milk and he's growing like a weed.  His face is really filling out.  I love his little cry that he makes when he is wanting to be fed.  Maaaa!  When the nipple gets near his  mouth he jumps on it.  I love watching him eat and him enjoying it so much.

Sleeping:  I was hoping that by this point he would be sleeping more but he's still sleeping a couple hours at a time.  I'm so ready for him to sleep a little longer.  He will sleep really well in his bassinet throughout the day but at night he fusses a good bit.  I have been putting him in the guest bed beside me to fall asleep.  He is very content laying beside me and falls asleep a lot faster.  He moves his arms a lot while he's sleeping and sometimes his arms wake him up.  He still will not allow us to swaddle his arms down.  He wants those hands to be free.  He's getting too crowded in the bassinet because when he moves his arms he hits the sides and wakes himself up.

This Weeks Happenings:  This week we stayed at home the whole week.  One day I took him out by myself to the post office, bank, and Chick-fil-a but all we did was go through the drive-thru.  I've been putting him on his tummy for tummy time and he is getting good at holding his head up.  For Christmas we made cupcakes and watched Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story.  On Christmas day we went to Steve's for lunch.  This was a pretty low key Christmas and I know that next year will be a lot more fun when he's older.

Clothes:  Newborn clothes...he's filling them up a lot better.

Firsts:  First big bath in the whale tub, first Christmas, and umbilical cord came off.

Fun Facts:

*When he sneezes he does it three to five times in a row
*He has become a lot more alert. He now looks  at you when you talk to him and is checking out things in the room.
*He will stop sucking his paci when you talk to him so he can hear you better.
*He knocks his paci out of his mouth when flailing his arms.
*When he passes gas it sounds like a grown man.  He has had a lot more gas this week and we have started giving him gripe water which seems to be helping.
*He has had a bad case of baby acne.  His face looks like a 14 year old teenage boy.  It breaks my heart every time I look at him.  It started the weekend of the 17th and it was horrible by Christmas.  I was embarrassed to take him out to visit my family.
*Mommy is finally figuring out his cries.
*Josh has been staying up late so I can go to bed early.  This extra sleep has really helped my emotional well-being.
*Grandmother sent Grant money for a baby swing so I ordered one and it's on it's way.  I sure hope he likes it more than his bouncy seat.
*Suzanne came by for a visit this week.  She stopped in and brought me lunch and stayed for a couple of hours.  It's always nice having a mommy to ask questions and get advice.
*This week he has had several nights and days when he hardly slept at all. I was thinking he may be going through a growth spurt.

Here are some extra pictures from the past week!

See how bad my acne is?

Proof that we can sleep anywhere...including the floor! LOL!
